Cloud storage pricing is rarely as simple as comparing published rates.
Storage class, capacity growth, retention, retrieval activity, data movement, API usage, region, and other workload assumptions can all affect the economics of a storage environment. Yet many providers and commercial teams still rely on spreadsheets, disconnected calculators, and one-off technical analyses to understand those differences.
Today, Purple Koru announced the launch and general availability of Compare IQ, a pricing intelligence platform built to make those comparisons clearer, more consistent, and easier to explain.
Compare IQ models identical workloads across Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and platform-provider environments. Rather than comparing individual rate-card entries, the platform evaluates how a defined workload behaves over time.

The first Compare IQ module focuses on backup and archive, where retention, growth, retrieval, and data movement can materially change multi-year storage economics.
Platform providers can also load their own pricing and compare it directly with hyperscaler alternatives using the same workload assumptions. Compare IQ then translates the analysis into customer-facing outputs that help teams explain cost differences, discuss tradeoffs, and guide the next stage of a storage evaluation.
From Advisory Experience to Repeatable Software
Compare IQ is the software expression of Purple Koru’s work supporting complex pricing, commercial, strategic, and operational decisions.
Our team has spent years helping organizations clarify assumptions, structure difficult analyses, and turn fragmented information into evidence-based action. Compare IQ brings that experience into a repeatable platform designed for providers, partners, and hyperscaler-aligned teams.
It does not replace commercial or technical judgment. It gives those teams a stronger, more consistent foundation for applying it.
As Purple Koru CEO Pete Karolczak explained:
“Compare IQ provides a consistent way to model the same workload across the hyperscalers and alternative storage platforms. Our goal is to enable a fact-based conversation and, ultimately, a better-informed decision.”
Compare IQ is available now.
