Product Designer

Are you ambidextrous? We are. And right now, we are seeking an amazing person with Product Design expertise. We are both strategic AND tactical and looking for someone who thinks and acts similarly. Your skillset will provide new thinking and product design to our existing depth and expertise.

Purple Koru is a boutique management consulting firm that works with prestigious companies on complex transformations AND a startup incubator that helps early-stage startups launch, get funded, and go to market.

Several of our startups are in the perfect stage to reap the benefits of product design. We are looking for someone who can join our team and work flexibly across more than one company simultaneously. We seek someone who can bring large company practices, startup nimbleness, and product management discipline with creative design thinking. Most importantly, somebody who can roll up their sleeves, take early design concepts and turn them into more detailed product designs and roadmaps. Ideally, the right person would also be able to take the initial designs into a Figma prototype.

Responsibilities

Present product ideas to relevant team members for brainstorming and facilitating product features and design concepts with the leadership of each startup.
Create design concepts and drawings to determine the best product
Creating user flows, wireframes, prototypes and mockups
Employ design concepts into functional prototypes (we use Figma)
Perform research on product technologies and structures to implement into design concepts
Maintain up to date on current industry trends, market conditions, and competitors
Gain a deep understanding of the target customer experience

Requirements:

You are proficient in prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, InVision, Sketch, Webflow, etc.
Problem-solving skills to determine solutions to user interface challenges
Development of web-based applications
Strong visual design skills. Ability to create original graphic designs (e.g., images, sketches, and tables)
You have a degree/diploma in Design, Fine Arts, Engineering, or a related field
You have prior experience as a UI/UX Designer as well as a strong portfolio of related projects
Basic HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, and JavaScript skills are a plus
You pay strong attention to detail and have a keen eye for aesthetics
You have excellent communication skills and can clearly articulate your ideas, designs, and suggestions

Relevant work experience as a product designer is preferred – especially in a Consumer-oriented solution where UI/UX and design are essential. In fact, one of our startups is aimed at high school/secondary school students, so experience in high-engagement UX, and gamified experiences will have great value. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent eye for aesthetic design and customer/user appeal.

You should be able to wear multiple hats and jump between strategy and execution seamlessly. You will have the opportunity to work on some exciting products, think about student-oriented product design in Ireland, and flip to cyber security in Canada.
