Jim Murphy

Jim is a senior executive whose career has focused on advancing business performance through the practical, disciplined application of technology. He brings extensive experience operating on both sides of the table — as a consumer of technology and services and as a leader within global technology organizations — giving him a balanced, outcome-driven perspective.

His expertise spans business process transformation, cloud and ERP initiatives, margin improvement, global operations, IT service management, and large-scale technology integration. Jim is particularly effective in environments where technology decisions directly affect operating models, financial performance, and organizational stability.

In one such engagement, Jim was brought in by a CFO following the departure of a CIO to lead the selection of an ERP vendor and systems integrator and to define the overall deployment approach. Reporting to an executive governance council, he led 12 workstreams to successfully separate and stand up an independent company from an outsourced business — balancing speed, risk, and operational continuity.

Jim has also built and led technology functions from the ground up, applying ITIL principles in a pragmatic way suited to smaller organizations. He assumed leadership of these functions directly, mentoring and coaching teams while embedding the people, process, and service disciplines required for sustainable operations.

Earlier in his career at Hewlett-Packard, Jim served as CIO for HP Outsourcing, where he was responsible for all dedicated IT systems supporting the business. He led the integration of EDS IT systems into HP, directing more than 20 workstreams with multimillion-dollar budgets. This effort included onboarding over 130,000 employees across hundreds of global sites and streamlining the technology landscape by eliminating hundreds of non-standard applications. His work was recognized for significantly exceeding integration and performance goals.
